As a cocktail lover and bartender for 16 years, I always search for any reason to ‘toast’ with a cocktail in my hand.
Certainly, the 13th of May is one of the most awaited days for any cocktail lover and it is to celebrate the first printed mention of the word COCKTAIL on 13th May 1806 on “The Balance and Columbian Repository”, an upstate New York newspaper.
The world of ‘cocktail’ has been defined as “… a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters …” which is most likely a description of the well known Old Fashioned.
Since we are based in Singapore, I have decided to honor a very popular ingredient used across South East Asia called pandan and share with you a cocktail we created in past, called Yakun Kaya. Click on the links to see the recipes.
